Contacted my Representative

I contacted Mike McIntyre to vote no to Cap and Trade bill

here is what he wrote back (or someone working for him, ya never know) (I signed it like it was my hubby wrote it)

Dear Mr. H:

Thank you for writing to me about H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue, and I share your concerns.

As you know, H.R. 2454 would establish a program to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in our atmosphere through a cap-and-trade program. This program would require entities that emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere to either reduce their emissions or purchase allowances from entities that remove carbon from the atmosphere. Electric utilities, manufacturing facilities, and industrial operations will be required to meet these requirements which could significantly drive up the cost of doing business. Those cost increase would then be passed along to consumers causing increases in utilities rates, the cost of food and household items, and vehicle fuels. When the program is fully implemented in 2030, retail electricity rates could rise as much as 45%, our GDP could fall as much as $350 billion, and the economy could lose as many as 2.5 million jobs even after accounting for those generated by new, green business. This is a price American families simply cannot afford to pay.

In addition, the bill would establish a Renewable Electricity Standard (RES), which requires electric utilities to generate a specific amount of energy from renewable sources. The RES does not take into account regional differences in capacity for renewable generation. The southeastern region of the United States does not have the same renewable generation capacity as states out West blessed with ample sunlight to warm solar panels and constant wind to drive turbines. I am concerned that the costs associated with both cap-and-trade and the RES will be merely a tax on consumers without the benefits of reduced emissions or more renewable generation.

God's beautiful earth must be protected and preserved, but this bill is not the answer. It will cost jobs, increase electricity rates, pass on financial burdens to the next generation, and hurt our country in the global economy. It would potentially allow more jobs to go overseas to countries like China that do not comply with the same standards.

My commitment in Congress has been to help working families and keep Southeastern North Carolina moving forward. During these challenging economic times, this bill is a hardship that our citizens and communities cannot afford. I voted against this bill as it places far too great a burden on our working families, small businesses, and family farmers.

Thank you for contacting me about this important issue. I will continue to be a strong voice for you in Washington. If you would like to receive my periodic e-newsletter, visit my website at http://www.house.gov/mcintyre/.

Sincerely,

Mike McIntyre

Right now it is one of the top ranked schools in the nation, I will be heartbroken if they destroy that!

unions are why schools fail to begin with. when there is a union there is no fear of being fired therefore why try to excel? why try to have kids excel?

The future of America

They want us hooked to things like american idol, so we won't think too much about real life issues.
Well they have it
this is not funny it is sad

I understand why my family is going to be in serious trouble

This is my families problem and I was enlightened a bit.
I read this list of consequences for the cap and trade bill (which Obama is pushing to get past this week "energy week")

after reading it I was struck with the notion that I won't be able to pay for all this increase cost. My family is living just at its means at all, if we are taxed or our bills go up at all, we will be struggling to get by.
I asked my husband - why would Obama do this to us, we are one of the lower class families, wasn't he supposed to help the lower and middle class?
the answer
yes, he wants us to NEED the government to give us hand outs to make it.
right now we make it without government involvement in our family, but when these consequences take effect, will we have a choice but accept government "help" ie welfare? probably not.

then what happens to my escape plan to leave the country, How will I save enough money to do it? I don't know.

please read below

This is going to be a painful bill for the American economy, Citizens Against Government Waste has some more details:

In reality, this cap-and-trade plan is nothing more than a hidden tax that The Heritage Foundation has estimated could increase the average American family's energy bill by $1,500 annually!

..... These higher operating costs for utilities, oil companies, and industry will ultimately trickle down to individual Americans, and you will pay an estimated 74 percent more for gasoline, 90 percent more for electricity, and 55 percent more on your natural gas bill. And that's not the end of it. You'll also pay more for every product that requires fossil fuels in its manufacture or transportation!

The Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade plan will also grow the size and cost of government by requiring the Environmental Protection Agency to establish a greenhouse gas (GHG) registry, create a GHG emission allowance transfer system, and set emission allowances from 2012-2050. This army of new bureaucrats will eventually control every aspect of industrial, commercial, and individual energy use. You won't be able to tune up your car or install a grill in your back yard without federal interference ... perhaps even a costly environmental impact study. What's more, the cap-and-trade program will necessarily be ripe for political favoritism and corruption, as politicians and bureaucrats manipulate the system for favored industries.

Climatologist Chip Knappenberger has estimated that the 83 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions mandated under Waxman-Markey by 2050 will result in a drop in climate temperature of only nine-hundredths of 1 degree Fahrenheit. That's equivalent to just two years of avoided global warming.

low-level terrorist

The government is now considering protesters as low level terrorists.
Tea party goers are low level terrorists.
even though there is something in the constitution about being able to "peaceably assemble" and the right to "petition the government for a redress of grievances."

OMG - I just read this, does it sound like high school or what? only with dire consequences

It happened last night. There was debate on the floor of the House over some amendments to a spending bill. The amendments were offered by Republicans and concerned funding for ACORN and an investigation into Nancy Pelosi's problems with the CIA.

As I understand the story, the Democrats announced that there would be no more votes that evening, and Republicans started heading home. When enough Republicans were gone the Democrats headed back to the House floor and called for a vote to end debate on all amendments to the spending bill. Republicans scrambled to get back into the House, but it was too late. Democrats saved Pelosi and ACORN with their little chicanery. For now.

I feel like i am in a race

The racers are Obama, North Korea, and myself

Obama is racing to get Healthcare socialized before the end of the year. why, because there is an election next year, and he doesn't want this on the table, that is my best guess.

North Korea is racing to perfect their atomic bombs, which they have enough plutonium to make 6 I believe.

I am racing to get out of debt and stockpile enough cash to leave the country.
I am so close to being unsecured debt free, I can taste it. We sold our stocks (at the perfect time I might add) and we will have everything paid off by the beginning of next year, If nothing goes wrong (like a car needing to be replaced)
Once we are financially free we will be more free to flee. If they socialize medicine then really what would the point of staying in the US be? We are turning into something exactly like everyone else in the world (who's systems are proven to suck) So why not just go somewhere where there isn't a huge bullseye on our heads?

"recent Gallup polls shows that 40% of Americans describe themselves as conservative. Only 21% of Americans call themselves liberal and 35% consider themselves moderate.

Clearly all of these conservatives don't consider themselves to be Republicans. Many of them are round in the ranks of or in sympathy with the Libertarians. A lot of them even vote Democrat. Conservative doesn't always equate to Republican. There are a lot of conservatives, for instance, who do not feel that it is the government's role to control a woman's reproductive life. Many of them won't vote Republican until the party starts to concentrate more on governance than it does on people's personal lives.

Fact is, the Republican party is out of fresh and new ideas, and it is ignoring the good old ones. Where are the Republicans who are standing up with anything more than a whimper for free enterprise?

OK .. you know where I'm going. I'm completely convinced that if the Republican party would put its full support behind the FairTax, and pledge to pass it as soon as they have control of the House and the Senate, it would turn next year's midterm election on its ear. The FairTax would become the issue. Sure, the Democrats would demagogue it, but as more and more Americans learned the truth their demagoguery would serve to hurt their cause, not help it. The formula here is so simple. Would you rather pay the government 33% of everything you earn, or 23% of everything you spend. What do you think of the idea of nobody paying any taxes at all to the federal government until they have provided for the basic necessities for their family? Now think about that one. Should the government have a claim on one single penny of the money you earn --- or, to state it differently --- should the government have any claim on one single minute of your life before you've taken care of your own family's basic needs? Unless I miss my guess, most Americans would answer "no" to those questions. Can't you see the Republicans running on a campaign of "Not one penny for the government until your family is taken care of." Well, that's the FairTax.

Why won't the Republicans get behind this? The FairTax is the most thoroughly studied and researched piece of legislation ever to have been placed before the Congress of the United States. Still, the Republicans don't believe that they can stand up to Democrat demagoguery. They have no confidence in the voters. They think that the voters will respond to simplistic and sophomoric ideas like calling the Democrat Party the "Socialist Democrat Party." Yeah ... that's showing 'em. But when it comes to supporting and promoting legislation that would bring about the largest transfer of power from the government to the people in our history .... The Republicans shy away.

There are trillions of dollars ... perhaps as much as $13 trillion ... in American dollar-denominated deposits working in overseas economies. Those dollars belong to Americans and American corporations. Stimulus? You want stimulus? What if that money came flowing back home to work in our economy? Can you imagine the stimulus to our economy that would result from just one-half of this money coming back home? This money would be spent by the people who earned it and own it, not by the government. The spending decisions would be privately made, not made in Washington's dark chambers. Obama's idea? Pass laws that tax these overseas earnings right here at home. Construct an economic Berlin Wall. If you see a dollar trying to escape our tax system, shoot it down without remorse. The FairTax plan? The FairTax play that could be the Republican plan? Tell the people who hold this wealth to bring it home with absolutely no federal tax consequences whatsoever. No taxes, no interest on taxes, no penalties .. nothing. Bring it home and put it to work in America and for Americans. But ... have you heard one single Republican present these different approaches to the American people?

How can the Democrats frighten the Republicans so much on this plan? The Democrats would argue for withholding money from your paycheck before you even see it. The Republicans could argue for presenting you with 100% of your paycheck every payday. The Democrats could argue for taxing everything that moves. The Republicans could argue for businesses operating in the US with no tax component on capital or labor. The Republicans aren't willing to take on this argument?

How sad it must be to have the hearts and minds of the plurality of the American people, but be unable to translate that into actual support. How on Earth do we have Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid running the show? Again, I said there were two reasons. The first being that the Republican Party has nothing going for itself. The second is because the American people have been conned ... at least in the presidential election ... into voting for a man who promised them "hope" and "change."

Elections have consequences. Are you starting to figure that out yet?"

I can't seem to come up with my own words today so I bring you his
"While we are on the subject of loony dictators, let's talk about North Korea. Last week, the UN drafted up harsher sanctions against North Korea in the wake of its latest missile launch. As a result, North Korea says that it plans to "weaponize" all of its plutonium. By the way, it has enough plutonium to make at least half a dozen atomic bombs. Not only that, but the Foreign Ministry of North Korea threatened any country that stopped its ships on the high seas, which is part of the latest UN sanctions.

Tough spot. I'm not pleased with the man we have in office who's job it is to deal with this mess ... but I am empathetic. There are some tough decisions to be made in the coming weeks and months. Those decisions will either strengthen or weaken our country. The world wants a weaker America. Let's hope Barack Obama soon remembers that he's the President of the United States first, and a citizen of the world second. "

I got this email from Smart Girl Politics

Why Join the Fight Against Medicare For All?

1. Medicare for All will create shortages in healthcare services forcing providers to ration care and increase wait times for patients (12-18 month wait in other countries).

2. Currently, Americans do not pay taxes on employer provided health insurance benefits. If you have health insurance through your company, you are about to be taxed on those plans. The Government will require all Americans have health insurance and impose FINES on those who do not.

3. The REAL GOAL: Government insurance seeks to eventually squeeze out and eliminate private health insurance companies altogether, forcing Americans to become dependent on a "one plan fits no one" Medicare system.

4. The Government will have access to and control over your health records intruding into the privacy and confidentiality of the doctor patient relationship. We all know how the Government handles confidential information.

5. The current Medicare and Medicaid programs are flawed and full of corruption. What will happen when we add another 100 million Americans to the program?

6. The President's current plan will add another TRILLION dollars to the deficit. Another government program on an already strained economy will bankrupt the United States.

7. How will Congress pay for their new plans? TAXES. The President campaigned that 95% of Americans would receive a tax cut. However Democrats are now planning to increase taxes on everything from sugar to cigarettes as well as creating new taxes, such as Value Added Tax.

8. No one in the country is currently denied access to healthcare so why is the President rushing a plan for socialized medicine without thoughtful debate and consideration? The Government should not be allowed to tell you what healthcare you are entitled to and how to live your life.

9. Government controlled heath care takes the decision making out of the hands of individuals and families and puts it in the hands of politicians in Washington.

10. What legal recourse will you have if the government denies you or a loved one medical care? None.

My husband's idea

How about 1 state, any one I don't care which, eliminate all welfare. Here is how. Instead of the current handouts, give anyone who is on welfare a check for $5000 (or so) and tell them to leave the state with it. Drive them to the busstop and tell them to leave, and set up in any state of their choosing, using that money.
The states they wind up in may make it difficult for incoming welfare recipiants to get welfare for such and such amount of time, and maybe even decide to start shipping their welfare peeps out to other states, who make it hard for incoming to get welfare. eventually welfare could cease to exist by creating a ripple effect. Just an idea.

It sounds silly now that I wrote it down, but at least we are thinking

I have been thinking about the fourth of July

I have not heard anyone discuss this before, but it seems to me that anyone accepting this rise of socialism in the US should not celebrate the fourth of July!

Here is my thinking. The 4th celebrates our independence from the tyrannical rule of England. It celebrates freedom, and democracy.

If you are socialist, you believe in the great empirical government rule of the US. We are living in a soft Tyranny now. We in essence are no longer free.

how can you celebrate freedom when you are not free and do not want to be free.

thats right, most Americans do not want to be free!

They want government involvement in everything they do! If they didn't want it why would they keep voting for it, why would they approve of the current administration.

I urge you, if you are socialist to not celebrate that which you do not want, otherwise you are a hypocrite.

United Socialist States of America

USSA - Has a nice ring to it! NOT!
