I have to ask myself if Americans are really free? My answer is no, true freedom doesn't exist.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We took the boys to the pediatrician for their well visits 6 months ago.

We have been getting a bill for $120 for a while now,

I have been pestering hubby to call the insurance company and the ped. office to get this 'taken care of'

See we have been charged for a "developmental screening", which is just a piece of paper with questions asking can your child do this, or this, or this.

Our insurance company paid this previously, then the time before this they did not, but the office took the charges off, because they could, we figured it was just something extra to charge the insurance company for more money. They said some insurances paid it, but ours didn't but don't worry about it.

Well this past time, hubby called several times, the insurance company said to take it up with the doctors office, the doctors office said take it up with the insurance company. and when they weren't saying that they were saying "its mandatory" - that is all we got.

Now this sheet of paper the doctor barely glanced at, because our kids are awesome. So I figured no services rendered.

I also figured we should be able to deny services which we do not want or are not covered. Free market right, bah

We waltzed our hineys up to the doctors office, note in hand saying we were going to pay but then switch doctors. Free market choosing doctors, right? nope

Instead of going up to the desk and dealing with inept receptionists, we pulled up and Dr. X was getting something out of the trunk of his car.

Now Dr. X is the most awesome doctor and person ever! We did not want to leave his practice. His older daughter is one month older than my oldest and his younger is one month older than my youngest. He 'gets' us. We click!

Here is the dealy-yo straight from the docs mouth

This 'test' is mandatory for those with BCBS - out of state. ours it BCBS of Alabama
Now this mandatory test isn't covered, but still required BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY - for all pediatricians

Our freedom of choice is gone! freedom to choose weather we want the screening or not, and the freedom to choose docs. over it, because they all have to do it.

We can afford this, but it would have been so nice to get the heads up. No one seemed to be able to explain it to us.

I really respect our pediatrician, and he said that many ped. offices are talking of dropping this insurance company.
Which I guess serves the insurance company right.
He did ask us if we would write a letter to the insurance company with our grievance over this policy, but I don't exactly know who to or what to even say. Lowes is the one who chooses the insurance company.
I think letting Lowes know how dissatisfied we are with the insurance company is the better route.

Any way during our conversation guess what got brought up....
Obama
yup I have yet to meet a doctor who is happy with the direction things are about to go. (I have now discussed it personally with 3 I think)
He said this is what is going to happen.....

BTW Right now he would not turn ANYONE away if they could just pay $1 a month he would take care of them.

But as soon as the damned government forces the docs to see anyone and everyone they will have double the amount of people in the waiting room, taking up more time and the doctor will get paid less.
Not everyone gets the health care they need, because the demand for free health care will be virtually infinite. But the dollars available to be spent will be limited.

I am just miffed and didn't know where else to go

Oh and Dr. X wouldn't take our check we practically forced it into his hand like 3 times.
I would almost be willing to ask him to keep seeing my kids and us pay him under the table when the time comes that private doctor patient transactions become illegal. He likes us enough he might would go along with it.

I am saddened to have brought children to inherit this place, maybe they can fix it.
There are "tea parties" popping up all over the place, I wanna go, maybe I can. Their is one here on Thursday.
