A real life example

I went to Wake Forest this past weekend, to visit my brother and sister in law and nephew for his birthday.
We were sitting around for breakfast yesterday morning discussing stuff going on around us. Tea Parties came up. They didn't know much about them, so we enlightened them. I had to thank them for giving us their hard earned money through the government. They said, huh? what do you mean? So I explained that due to our tax bracket we pay nothing in to the government besides medicare and social security, that in fact we get a rather large check from the government. Some call it a "refund" we call it welfare seeing as we didn't pay it in to begin with how can it be a "refund"?

Their eyes widened with a bit of anger, not toward us but toward the system. You see my SIL owns her own business - I have watched her work very hard to make it what it is today - which is fairly profitable. She started with nothing and is now doing well, and getting taxed hard for it! They pay lots of taxes while we are not as well off (due to our choices) and we get money. Where does our money come from? Other peoples taxes. Seems like wealth redistribution already.
So she says "why the hell am I working my butt off? when I can sit around and collect a check?"
Why would anyone want to work when they don't have to? The government will take care of them, but then the government's subjects are at the governments' beck and call, slaves if you will.
I had to add that I cannot simply deny the welfare money, I am forced to do my taxes, I am given a 'refund' as a result. I am not given the option of saying no thank you.

You might wonder why I am against socialism since I get paid for not working hard, well it is because I want a strong America to be the best it can be for my children!
Freedom is worth sacrifice, and I have ambition left in me, I have had my family and now I can go back to school or try to make it with my Jewelry, but why do it if it will take me nowhere and I can never excel because of where I live? And the government ruling over me?

Why have I not been trying to excel up until now, because I didn't have to, but does that make me feel complete - not really.

another thing from yesterdays conversation....

My SIL's business is in the medical field, she hires people to take care of the elderly.

She enlightened me on the union movement. Apparently the government is trying to make secret ballots to form unions no longer secret. Unions will scare you into joining, people don't want unions - but they do want their jobs and they want their families safe so if there is no secret vote, everyone will be forced to join.
Unions are bad. They hurt companies more than help the individual.

So anyway my SIL told all her employers that if a Union member approaches them to not give any info - they can infiltrate the companies by attaining just one person's name and moving to the other employees from there. She is shredding papers with employees last names on it, and making nametags with only first names on them.

She told them that if they get infiltrated that she will close the business just like that. She will not own a unionized business! All her employees will suddenly be jobless.

Ya know the majority of jobs in America are supplied by small businesses. So when the small businesses are forced to close down, jobs are lost.

Who is causing this? You already know the answer.
